I'm more in to the Grifter. Have an original Mk1 resting in my living room as a display thing. And yes, there is even a forum for the Grifter too.

And did any of you know about the Raleigh Rally?? I've always wanted to go but never managed to get there. l found this on the www if anyone is interested.

28th - 30th August
The Raleigh Rally

The Raleigh Rally caters for all cycling enthusiasts regardless of age or cycling background.

With our growing following; we see cycles such as boneshakers, mixte’s, the funky years (60’s & 70’s), bmx’s, cruiser’s, lowriders, racers, side car bikes, and crazy bike projects/inventions.

So dust of your camper/tent and come to our family orientated 3-day cycling camp-over to show of your collection, view/ride every body else’s, or pick up a project to restore for next years show.

All attendees can have a small stall to sell or swap parts and show their collections (or in johns, bills, tim's and kev’s case, show of your scrap).

There’s various cruises during the day and music and fun in the evenings.

It was like a mountain bike before mountain bikes had even been thought of!

Now that's my kind of Grifter. A blue Mk 1. You've got 2 mighty shiny examples there too.

I had a tomahawk and it was toilet!

Did a jump off a kerb when I was 9 to impress a girl on the swings down the park.....front wheel fell off in mid air and I splattered myself on the road on landing! Dont think it really impressed her but her mum did clean all my cuts up and I remember her being quite fit so alls well that ends well!

Did move up to a grifter....did anyone else castrate themselves when using those ****** sturmy archer gears when they slipped????

Ahhhhh happy days!

And I ruined the flap on the mudguard by bending it round so it rubbed on the tyre and made a sound like a motorbike

I remember doing that. In the end a friend came up with this cool idea of cellotaping a piece of cardboard to the frame so that it banged against the spokes. Sounded ace until it got wet.....and then it just didn't work.

Lollipop stick through the brake caliper (next to the block) against the spokes, similar idea
