OK. What's your ultimate bus? I'm gonna go for the obvious and say a RHD barndoor samba. :)
56 camping box.
but there is a westy barndoor that has an okrasa engine and a deluxe dash that I'd like.
Or mine

I'm a Bug man through and through BUT I do actually have a favourite model Bus and that is an early Bay Window tin top! I think it would have to be a Bus like our Panzerfaust and I like the zed bed hinges James has had fitted so that would have to be a must.
Prob not much cop for camping in without the cooker and whatnot but I think I'd get annoyed with all that weight and clutter ;)
If I had to have a Bus for Camping (shoot me down in flames if you like) I think I'd go for the T5 California. Now they don't look as cool but boy are they ever luxurious! :D
That said they are way too expensive :(

You see, you're not totally a bug man. There's a bit of bus lover in you! I see where you're coming from on the California though. If you look at Martin and Blanche Adams' bus, you can't help but want it.
Really lovin your bug by the way. It just looks right. It sits nice and the whole colour scheme does it for me. :D

I heard that was just hi-jinx at the Office party .....

63` kombi, swedish import, been weathering in some woods for about 30 years, and then given a bit of boatyard lovin`, hold on that`ll be mine! :)
In most ways mine is my ultimate for what I need/want at this time, as early a bay Westy pop top as possible in stock trim ... I guess an entirely OG example would be perfect, and of course they are out there.
Id love a nice OG Samba for the minibus practicality as a sunny day runaround, but if I had a windfall this weekend, Id be very tempted by this -

Mine would have to be a 'slightly' rat look samba with, most importantly, a swing out cooker. I don't know why but I really want a swing out cooker - simple things and that

Hi, ultimate bus for me would be a standard looking early split panel van, RHD but with enough hoss power to blow all rep boys out of the fast lane of the motorway. That too much to ask? until then, i'll keep my lwb t4 hack.don't think '99 is old enough to qualify as rat look, but it's tryin'.

too many choices to little time!! i think probably a full westy bay for the classic side and probably have to be a T5 california with the works for the modernist in me but also my own t5 mainly because its mine and i can fit it to my spec...........ideally one of everything and a bug thrown in for good measure but till i win the lottery or bump off a few relatives it ain't gonna happen1 :)

The split panel van for sale on Harrison automotives site if only i had the money :( With an Interior Motive inspired fit out in the back) Photo's of the van sat on the beach are the clincher for me, cool as !!!
Until I can afford one I will stick with my late bay Danbury panel van conversion that has been lowered and sports a Laurie Petitt 1776engine. Still looks like a mobile public eyesore though should have got the metalwork sorted before doing the interior :):):):):)

I'd have to say a nice 23 window Samba, like this one

Or this http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2395/2503259700_49a09e090b.jpg?v=0
I just love everything about it!
The stance, colour, the red strip on the tyres really works, the collectables in the roof rack.
Or a nice low-light bay, or a T25
Nice.
but for a nice type1 bug
