I Am slowly restoring one of these if any one has any south african beetle spares available especialy the rear light spacers and front reflectors on the wings would be good
fortunatly the five speed box and twin carb engine fitted in the factory are still intact .
any other info on these unusual and rare cars so far i have found 2 others .one in a museum in japan and one owned by a gent in SA
And information from vw is ,what car , did we make that ??? . Not one of out chassis numbers pmsl . mind you the car is enough to confuse anyone as they seem to make it out of what they had in the factory at the time and played about and made a few cars out of them odd though the castings for the carb manifolds are audi !!! or at least are cast with there logo

any help please

they all have king and link pin front end the info i have so far from SA is the standard SP model used normal brakes mine is fitted with 356 frond drums and 5 stud van rears to give it more breaking this is possible wilth not much more than bearing changes (thanks to skf bearings for sourcing replacements ) the rear lights are round like 1303 but use spacers to allow them to be fitted on std 1200 style wings . dash should be fully fitted with factory with vdo gauges . and if it went for 900 quid and it was genuine what a bargain the guy in south africa paid the equivilent of 19 grand for his
