Afternoon all.

I am currently scrubbing/rust beating/patching holes in the floor of my 1976 Bay camper. At the base of each rear wheel arch are two holes, and on one side these have rusted out a little, although not necessarily enough to require welding - does anyone know if these serve a purpose, and would it be the end of the world if I was to block them up?

Glen, there are several of these holes in and around your van. Some are drain holes but most are waxoyl access points. The two you are talking about allow you to inject waxoyl into parts of the chassis. I would advise trying to keep them, but just blank off with some rubber grommets. Even the rusty one could be enlarged and a suitable grommet put in. Stick with it, I went through all of this doing my chassis and floor! It's worth it!

Hi Tex - Looks like its going well. Did you make your own blanking plates for your top indicators? I bought a set but found them too large and I've cut them down. I've welded mine in but they don't look as neat as yours do. I always presumed they'd need a lick of filler.

The blanks are actually the original panel! Please see pic below, they were left in position whilst old front was chopped off! You can also see where the idicator surrounds were removed (they are just resting on the top there, that's not where I left them!!!) :D
