View Full Version : Upgrade Dynamo yes or no
I have the engine out of our 1972 Devon Bay and would like to know if whilst its striped down whether I should invest in an alternator.
AFAIK there is nothing wrong with the dynamo certainly we have not had a flat battery at anytime.

Personally l would just on the grounds that an alternator is more efficient.

If your going to run a split charge or running lots of electrics I would say yes, otherwise there is no real reason too if all your electrics are fine . . . as Birdy says the only real benefit is that an alternator charges all the time and a dynamo on really charges when your moving as in higher revs.

if you havn,t had a problem with battery and don,t plan any electric upgrades in the cab stick with the dynamo and put the money you saved to something else:D
