firstly a sticking choke will not cause a flat battery, firstly get your battery checked to see if its ok, winter weather kills what seems to be a good batterys, if thats ok then you will need to check your charging system, i,m asuming as its a 74 that its got an alternator? when you turn on your ignition key have you got both red lights on your speedo?

yes both red lights are on, i dont think there is anything with the battery i just drain it trying to start it. When i try to start the engine the choke sticks.

Any suggestions? Its a new carb and choke therefore is it set up to manufactuers standard, or should it need altering?

Many thanks
Gill :)

If its a new carb and choke assembly it may well need setting up first but i am not sure having never bought a new one.

Where did you buy it from and who fitted it and why was it changed in the first place?

hi pete,
Thanks for your help. I brought my carb and choke setup from GSF. I was told by a machanic that i need a need one. SO LIKE AN IDOIT I WENT AND BROUGHT ONE.

When i turn the key, both red lights come on but struggles to turn over, then the choke sticks on and me being blonde ends up flattening the battery.
