Does anyone know the whereabouts of the bug in the Jeremy Clarkson video Top 100 Cars. This used to be my bug. I purchased it in 1989 and treated it to a full body-off resto. It's a Savannah Beige 67 1500 Reg No JWV 353F. First registered in Aug 67. Last of the slopey headlight cars.
Someone must know where the old bug is. Check it out on You Tube. It's car number 100 so it's right at the start of the clip.

Oh. That little pic is of the car before it was restored down at Fistral at Run to The Sun 89 or 90. Damn, I'm showing my age here!
I was there at the filming of that video - I was invited to interview Jeremy Clarkson for VolksWorld. It was at an ex-RAF airfield in Gloucestershire. I got there at 9.00am and he was 'so busy' he couldn't even give me any time, even when he had a break from filming every 10 minutes or so... In the end I spent the whole day waiting around for him and at the end of the day's filming at something like 5.45pm he was just about to jump in his Ferrari to go and I kicked off to his 'people'. JC grudgingly gave me 'a couple of minutes, as I've got to get home and write my column for the Sun'. Two minutes was all I got, but at least I got a photo of him to run on the cover of the November 2001 issue with the coverline 'Jeremy Clarkson on the VW Beetle' and a story to run in the mag.
Anyway, the '67 in question was also in that issue, on page 19, and today it is owned by the same person who owned it back then; Simon Jones, or Cider Simon as he's better known from Cam in Gloucestershire. But it looks a whole lot better now!
Here it is as it looks today!

Blimey! I didn't realise Simon still owns the car. Last time I spoke to him, must be about 8 or 9 years ago, the car was still bog stock and he was talking about buying a Scat shifter. Look what he's done since then! It doesn't look like my car any more. That's probably why I haven't noticed it around the shows!
Simon, I'll try to catch up with you at one of the shows. Good to see the little bug's still rockin and rollin.
Thanks for the update Ivan. I must dig out that issue and have another read. It's been worth me joining the forum just for this info.

So JC is a real arrogant sh**head in real life then - I thought it was just his cultivated telly image. Not worth the time of day.

Anyone got the Photoshop technology to transform the old 67 into it's next guise? :D
