Right. Let's start a proper thread now we've all said hello. Following on from this month's article on the 58 bug, Mike says the stock bugs are disappearing. So come on, who's hiding a stocker in their garage? You know who you are, you never use it cos you've got a bus you use for shows!
Let's see pics of your stockers! You know you want to show it off really!

I've had this stocker hiding in the garage for the past 18 years! I'm afraid to say it might not be so stock when it hits the road again though ;). Sorry for the **** pics, it doesn't want to come out to play at the mo!

What happened to 252 LRL by the way? Got to be a story behind that?

Not a very interesting story I'm afraid, just a plate I picked up when I was a kid. I think it came of my Dad's mates Mini.

Hey Jon. That's the prize car isn't it? What's it going to look like by the time the show comes round? Or is that a secret?
Jon G
31-10-2008, 06:49 PM
Yeah that's the one. Turth be known I don't actually know what the end result will be. I think it will still be orange and I heard rumours that it will get lowered. Not sure how much by but I think the plan would be to keep it drving well - ie it won't be on the deck!
Fatboy

I'll look forward to seeing it. I'm sure it's gonna make someone's day at the show! :)

Chris, that's a lovely oval you had there. I know that feeling. I miss a few of my old cars. That 67 bug and my 64 bus in particular. :(
1302L - I loved that 67. It was my first bug. Have a look at the Jeremy Clarkson thread and see what it looks like now. It's hard to belive it's the same car!

Nice bug. :) Yeah, if a cars done right, it'll get my vote every time, whether it's stock, custom, baja .... anything really. I must say, I'd love a nice baja. Had a good look at the High 5 baja bug when it was for sale. Very nice too

Hi all, this is my 1973 1303S which my husband found on his last Army base in Dorset and bought for me for 200 quid. It had it's first drive in several years from Dorset to Lincolnshire (260 miles) flawlessly and nedded less than 100 quid to get it through it's MOT! As you can see from the suspension height, it is still pretty stock though sorry to say, probably wont stay that way too long as I am short and need it closer to the floor ( any excuse lol :) ).
I plan to lower it, add some blade bumpers respray in the original colour but also colour coding the wipers and wheels before pinstriping it in white and purple. I also plan on white wing beading and white wall tyres, clear indicators and earlier rear wings with earlier rear lights and some additional bling such as vent trims etc. Though the interior will be kept pretty much stock, it will need new seats and door cards as they are all ****.
Anyway, this is my first Bug so let me know what you think. The blue one in some of the pictures is my husbands and the blue Golf is mine and currently for sale ;)

Turned into...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/tofufi/beetle/CIMG7799.jpg
Soon to be a stock looker ;)
2 new genuine VW complete 1/4 panels (2 more to go!), new genuine VW channels, new high quality floors, A pillars, engine bay etc and it's getting there...
Now looks like this..
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/tofufi/beetle/CIMG8256.jpg
Needs the suspension putting back to standard. A bit more welding and lots of painting.
This is how I want her to look...

The only deviation from stock will be an increase in power ;)
