I'm still having trouble with the injection system of my 76 bus and this weekend while sitting inside Croydon Auto Repairs it decided it wasn't going to start. It's always starts on the button but it is always over fueling. We have since found out one of the problems why it is having this problem. And it was THIS!!!

While looking through the air flow control unit Mark found a bent up piece of 13 amp wire holding open the air flow flap.
For me this is the best bodge l have seen on this bus and I'm not even looking into its Steve Wonder inc MOT.

several years ago, I found newspaper in the 'A' posts of my wife's 1302s and once unravelled it was an Essex publication... I can't remember the date of it though.

That add bar is getting up my jaxy too.
Body welded to the pan and welds covered in bathroom sealant is the best one I have found on my bug!! Cudnt get the grinder in at the front near the bulkhead to cut it off so had a long chisel and a lot of hammering!!

my 71 Beetle's channels have been filled full of expanding foam and fibreglassed and fillered over to the correct shape to make it look like a solid chanel and end....
For the amount of time they must have spent doing that, it would have been much easier to weld a new channel in...

Yes that advert is blloming annoying. A piece of 13amp wire stuffed into the airflow meter. What's the best bodge you have seen on your dub?

There were too many to mention on my bug but this is one of my favourites as once again it will have taken as long as doing the job properly

Wasn't sure which one to pick as I found that many restoring our Bay.
The drivers side sill was made from a plastic section of roller shutter door siliconed in and covered with underseal
But one of the best was the front beam which was well rotten and also filled with silicone.... Death trap springs to mind

Could not get any heat to driver and passenger footwell vents. Ensured heat exchanger flaps were opening, all OK, looked for disconnected pipes, all OK. Started to worry that heater channels were shot but nothing at all was coming out of vents. Rags were stuffed into heater channel both sides. Easy fix!
Still no warm air to screen both sides, I wonder:)
i dunno about other peoples bodges, but i have just fixed my gear linkage with a bit of a mop handle! works a treat:D

There seems to a problem with the ad bar obscuring text on posts containing images.

Soooo...
Last night I decide to tackle the bug's wheel arch. I took off the rusty repair panel that somebody welded on badly...
underneath is ANOTHER rusty repair panel, took that off and...
underneath is ANOTHER rusty repair panel, so took that off too and...
underneath is the remains of the original metal, rusty and holed, beaten back to put the repairs on top!

sound about right m8, i find this all the time, the most annoying thing is when you take off the layer to revel a mint original panel:mad: i use the least amount of a repair panel then but weld it in, i hate it when there overlapped:mad:

This evening I have removed almost a metre and a half of superfluous wiring from under the dash of my Notch. The previous botcher seemed to have an adversion to cutting wire to length. If it was too long simply wrap it around pipes and cable tie it to itself, the ones that were too short had additional lengths added - in one case there were four wires joined together with at least three spade terminals to choose from at one end

One day I WILL get round to sorting my wiring out. I've found quite a few 'xtra' wires that lead from nowhere to nothing
Already taken the clock out as I didn't want one in the car and it was wired up so it only worked when the ignition was on. Must have been for timing journeys ;)
